This policy explains how BKM Building Solutions ("we", "us") handles personal information collected through this website, our forms, our phone line and our text-message programme. We serve Calgary + surrounding areas, AB, and we handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Information we collect
We only ask for what we need to answer you and to quote your project. When you send an enquiry or request an estimate, that is:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you give us one
- The project type you select, on the contact form
- Anything you choose to write in the message box
- Whether you ticked the text-message consent, on the estimate form
Our forms also record the IP address the submission came from and the time it arrived. That is kept for security — it is how we tell a real enquiry from automated spam — and it is not used to build a profile of you.
How we use it
We use your information to reply to your enquiry, prepare and discuss an estimate, arrange site visits, carry out work you engage us for, and keep the records a construction business is required to keep. If you have ticked the marketing consent below, we may also send you occasional messages about our services.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, trade or otherwise release it for anyone else's marketing.
Text messages (SMS)
Our free-estimate form offers a single, optional text-message consent. Leaving it unticked has no effect on your enquiry, your estimate or the price we quote — you can always reach us by phone or email instead. The contact form does not ask for it at all.
If you tick it, you are consenting to both marketing and non-marketing messages from us at the number you provided — including appointment reminders, estimate updates and job scheduling, as well as occasional messages about our services.
Terms that apply
- Message frequency may vary.
- Message and data rates may apply. Those are charged by your mobile carrier, not by us.
- Reply STOP to any message to opt out. You will get one confirmation message and then nothing further of that kind.
- Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us on the details at the bottom of this page.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Opting out of texts does not remove you from our records or stop us replying to you by phone or email.
- Consent is recorded with your submission and can be withdrawn at any time.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party, other than the service providers described below who help us deliver the messages you asked for. Those providers may only use the information to deliver those messages.
Who else sees your information
We share personal information only where it is needed to do the work or to run the site:
- Service providers — our website host, email provider and, where applicable, the messaging provider that delivers our texts. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.
- Trades and suppliers — where a job requires it, and limited to what that trade needs to attend or deliver.
- Where the law requires it — a court order, a regulator, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets a session cookie when you use a form. It carries the security token that proves the form was submitted from this website and nothing else, and it expires when you close your browser. It is not used for tracking or advertising.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and estimate requests are kept for as long as we may need them to answer you, honour a quote or meet our record-keeping obligations, and are then removed. Records of text-message consent are kept for as long as you remain opted in, and afterwards for as long as needed to show that the consent existed and was withdrawn.
Keeping it safe
Submissions travel over an encrypted connection and are stored in a database that is not publicly reachable. Access is limited to the people at BKM Building Solutions who need it to do their job. No system is perfect, but we do not keep payment card details on this site at all.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it, and withdraw any consent you have given — including the text-message consents — at any time. Write to us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
This site is meant for adults arranging construction work. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and the date at the top of it. Material changes to the text-message programme will be reflected here before they take effect.
