Kitchen Renovations

A kitchen built around how you cook.

Layouts, cabinetry and finishes built for how your family actually cooks — not for a showroom photograph.

Renovation service

The layout matters more than the finishes.

Most kitchens that frustrate people are not ugly — they are badly arranged. We start with how you move between the sink, the stove and the fridge, then work outward to storage, lighting and surfaces. Selections are locked before demolition, so the cabinetry lead time never becomes a three-week hole in your schedule.

  • Layouts planned around real cooking and traffic
  • Stock, semi-custom or fully custom cabinetry
  • Quartz, granite and solid-surface counters
  • Electrical, plumbing and ventilation brought up to code

What's included

What a kitchen renovation includes.

Every project is scoped and priced before we start.

Design & layout

Drawings that fix the work triangle, storage and sightlines before anything is ordered.

Cabinetry

Boxes, doors, hardware and interior fittings specified to your budget band.

Counters & splash

Templated after cabinets are set, so the seams land where they should.

Services

Rewiring, plumbing moves and hood venting, permitted and inspected.

Flooring & paint

Carried into the adjoining rooms so the new work does not stop at a line.

Appliance fit

Openings built to your actual appliances, installed and tested.

How it runs

How the work runs.

Walkthrough and brief

We see the space, hear what you want and tell you honestly what is realistic for the budget you have in mind.

Design and selections

Drawings, materials and finishes agreed and priced before demolition — not chosen under pressure halfway through.

Permits and schedule

Permits submitted and followed through, trades booked in the order the build actually needs them.

Build, clean

Dust barriers, floor protection and a swept site every night, because you are usually still living in the house.

Walkthrough and warranty

We walk it with you, fix the list, and hand over the warranty paperwork. Your sign-off is what ends the job.

Where the money goes

Cabinetry is a third of the budget. The walls decide the rest.

Cabinetry is usually thirty-five to forty-five per cent of a kitchen budget and the single biggest lever you have. Stock boxes with good doors can look excellent; full custom earns its cost when your walls are out of square or your storage needs are genuinely unusual. Counters come next, and the gap between an entry quartz and a designer slab is often three to six thousand dollars on an average kitchen.

Then there is the part nobody quotes: what is behind the drywall. Older Calgary kitchens routinely hide undersized electrical, cast-iron drains and framing that has moved. We budget a contingency for it up front rather than presenting it as a change order in week three.

  • Moving the sink or stove means new plumbing and venting, not just new cabinets
  • Islands need power, and often a dedicated circuit
  • Range hoods have to vent outside, which sets the route through the ceiling
  • Structural walls can come out — with an engineer and a beam, and a real number

Common questions

Questions we get asked most.

Anything not covered here, just ask on the call.

How long is the kitchen out of use?

Three to five weeks for a refresh, five to eight for a full renovation, and longer where structure moves. We set up a temporary kitchen elsewhere in the house and phase the work so you are without a sink for days rather than weeks.

What does a kitchen renovation cost in Calgary?

Most kitchens we price land in one of three bands, and the difference is rarely labour — it is cabinetry construction, counter material and how much of the room you are moving. You get an itemised range after one walkthrough, free, rather than a number over the phone.

Can we keep our existing cabinets?

Sometimes. If the boxes are solid and the layout works, refacing with new doors, hardware and counters gets you most of the visual change for a fraction of the cost. If the layout is the problem, refacing just gives you a better-looking kitchen that still does not work.

When do we choose appliances?

Before cabinetry is ordered, always. Cabinet openings are built to the exact appliances you have bought, and a fridge chosen after the millwork is cut is how a panel ends up trimmed on site.
